We've been dreaming about travel a lot lately. It’s just what we do at F&F. And most recently, Cape Town has been on our minds. Not only because it would be a much needed escape from being stuck in our homes, quarantined from the rest of the world, but also because one of our partners, Farmhouse Fitness, is there!

Cape Town is a vibrant city full of colorful streets and people, beautiful beaches, and of course, some amazing mountains to climb.

We asked Hanna Crowén, Health Educator and Co-owner of Farmhouse Fitness, why she thinks Cape Town is the perfect place for one of our Fit Trips.

Hello, Hanna! Tell us about Farmhouse Fitness and how it all started?

Farmhouse Fitness is the final product of two souls falling in love and sharing a burning passion for health, fitness and traveling.
As with all beginnings, it started with a small seed. We, myself and my partner Petré Beukes, randomly stumbled upon each other in a gym in Phuket, Thailand. Although we had a lot of differences (number one being raised in completely different corners of the world on different continents with different cultures...) it didn’t take long before we realized we also had a lot in common. Health and fitness was important for us both and we shared the dream of an active life where being in the outdoors was easy and accessible. Traveling, meeting new people and learning about different cultures from all over the world was also a huge shared interest for us.

The idea of one day having our very own fitness retreat together where we could combine all our core interests was born and started its growth. Physically Farmhouse Fitness came to life in 2018 when we finally found the perfect property in the perfect location. We are the one and only fitness retreat in Cape Town and we offer our guests a unique and exciting holiday filled with new like-minded friends and local cultural experiences meanwhile getting or staying fit and active in Cape Town's extraordinary surroundings.

Why did you choose Cape Town, South Africa as the location for your retreat?

It was mainly a decision based on love for the area and a desire to be able to offer something different within the fitness industry. Cape Town is such an unexplored position within the fitness holiday industry and although it was tempting to go for a location in a country like Spain or Portugal where there already was a secure established market for active holidays, we thought it would be a lot more exciting being pioneers in our field by opening up the first and only fitness camp in Cape Town.

Petré grew up about one hour drive from Farmhouse Fitness so naturally we had spent a lot of time in the area prior to starting up Farmhouse Fitness. We absolutely love the variety this location has to offer and really just want to showcase it to the world! Beautiful and unique nature along with a never ending list of scenic hikes combined with surf waves rolling into white sandy beaches, and of course; culture, food and wine. Cape Town is so much more than anything we’ve ever experienced in one single destination throughout our years of traveling.

And the best part is; with Petré being local, we know very well where to find the hidden gems and being able to offer our guests something different, a bit off the commonly traveled path.

How do our Fit Trips differ from a typical Farmhouse stay? How are they the same?

The itinerary of the Fit Trips have carefully been planned out by the professional fitness guides behind Fit & Forest together with the experienced local experts of Farmhouse Fitness. The tailor made program has been created with the Fit & Forest customers in mind and although the base of the stay at Farmhouse Fitness is similar to other retreats, it includes excursions and activities such as hiking, yoga and safari that the typical Farmhouse guest normally never gets to experience. Fit & Forest have designed their packages in a way to make sure their customers have the possibility to get the most out of a visit to Farmhouse Fitness and Cape Town.
